I worked in Newark for 2.5 years...it is a great place. You learn how to work there. Outside of Gateway Plaza, you have Don Pepe's or work over to the ironbound section, and it's like another world. Beside the food, you feel fairly safe walking around. Leaving Newark at midnight, you learn not to stop at red lights - slow and go.
