In today's ap:
The result of no state free money. Someday, a resident of AP may have to make
this
decision. These "increases" are simply $ that cannot be passed onto tenants -
nor the
empty nesters, such as my parents, who woudln't mind haning around. "Only
$20/month"
today, next year, and again. The real AVG homeowner will be popped around
80-100 per
month. Toss those cell phones, cable and fancy cars.

You ever think what the "new" avg house costs are in AP?

OCEAN TOWNSHIP — The school district will lose six elementary school teachers,
three
full-time secretaries, 11 athletic or co-curricular faculty positions, the
Youth Government
Club and the high school coffee house as part of sweeping budget cuts planned
for the
next school year.

On top of that, the tax rate would increase under the $63.3 million budget
adopted by the
Board of Education Tuesday night. The owner of property assessed at the
township
average of $445,000 would be billed an extra $209 later this year (that's
$17.42 per
month) for the school district.

Board President William J. Garofalo blamed the 4.7-cent increase in the school
tax rate on
the rising cost of special education, frozen state aid, unfunded government
mandates
such as No Child Left Behind, and rising fuel, energy and insurance costs,
among other
factors.

Voters will be asked to approve a $47.6 million tax levy on April 18.
