I hear ya on that.
It's kind've tough to know what is right and wrong about things like Pier
Village.
Eminent domain forced many long time residents out, to who knows where, to
create it,
and to be honest, the area was somewhat down-trodden and not being fully
utilized.
But, the thing they chose to replace it with is a mall with condos.
And the condos ain't cheap. But, it is progress, and people are moving there,
and
shopping in the shops.
I guess, for me...i'm a romantic. I love old culture, mom and pop business's
and the
Americana that seems to be becoming just a memory. When I think of that, I feel
sad for
future generations, because they'll never have the memories I have. Their idea
of a Jersey
shore attraction will be shopping by the sea, and they won't be exposed to the
fantastic
architecture that once typified our shore.
I also used to work at The Haunted Mansion ($3.10 an hour) and those were some
of the
best times I ever had at any job. Can you imagine getting paid to scare the
crap out of
people?
