"Â…Canada geese populations, observed at many locations including
municipal parks, recreational fields and corporate centers, are
disseminating parasites called Giardia spp. cysts."

This is a phenomenon of population boom; great densities of geese
bring an unwanted bonus of disease and pestilence, when in balance
with predators and food supply this rarely happens.

Another of Canada's residents, the beaver, is similarly afflicted when
out of it natural balance; nature's answer in that case is "beaver
fever", which similarly slows beaver reproduction and can infect
humans who drink water used by those so infected.
