The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates
for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling
(about 300 - 1000% increase!) and are due to go into effect on May 15
(retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain
unchanged, the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on
this date.

Internet radio needs your help! H.R. 2060, The Internet Radio
Equality Act was introduced by Representatives Jay Inslee (D-WA) and
Donald Manzullo (R-IL ) to save the Internet radio industry. Please
call your congressperson to ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 2060 by

Online radio stations are listened to by millions of music fans who
are sick of the same old songs forcefed to us by corporate radio
conglomerates. If you love music or if you're a musician yourself,
this bill NEEDS your help! Please call your local representative and
tell them that you believe online radio stations deserve the same
rate structure as regular radio stations - not 1000% higher rates.
Online station owners aren't asking to avoid paying royalties (the
vast majority of them have been legally playing royalties for years),
the station owners just want the playing field to be fair. What the
record companies are asking for is essentially for an online station
to pay about $4 for ever $1 they make. In other words, they want to
destroy the industry. Let's make things fair. Charge online radio
the same rate structure that regular radio pays. Let the music fans
have more choices not less.
