First - The area of construction is larger then the size of the
finished "islands". That's to accomodate the excavation needed.
Second - The curb lines on the blocks North and South of
the "islands" are being moved also.
In effect the wide sidewalks are being eliminated. Take a look at
the corner of Ocean and Fifth in front of the Wonder Bar to see how
that will turn out.
Another shame for Asbury Park, taking nice wide public amenities
like sidewalks and squeezing them down to almost nothing. The look
and FEEL of the beachfront is being significantly altered, as some
of you commented on previously.
