On Point: EVEN in the rain in the summer, people are there. Why? Motels are booked throughout the summer. They're open because there is no threat of eminent domain. There's people there because there is a beach. A boardwalk for kids. The Aquarium. Nights continue til 2 (I can barely stay up that late any more then drive back). Privately owned. Fries are $6.00 because a) you can't get a spot on the BW and b) if you do, you're paying out the nose for rent, so you better know what you're doing. You also feel safe and clean.
AP will come back. It's come along way in the past 3 months. Get off the 'net and go past the casino. New roof in progress. Beaches are clean etc. Is it a "Family" destination today. No. Will it be. Probably, to some extent (let's go see grandma)...will it be a gay mecca....will it be a real "hip" place... will it be a real yuppie Esperanza inspired etopia...will it be a real latino hot spot or it will it be a brooklyn meets spring lake battle for the beach. It needs, and will be, cleaned up to meet MM's mission- to bring national retail to AP and with that, some type of family destination center. The condos will take care of themselves. Yahoo!
