I do not think any of the new things should be copied from history, so much as inspired by history with a modern twist/purpose. What originally started my thinking along the lines of the Natatorium, was the idea of an 18 inch pool. I was thinking, ugggh, after all those plans and speeches, is it already turning to, well, what can we put in that's cheap? (And easy to remove if it does not work out).
Would be nice instead of a quasi beach club, with a tiny pool, MM invested in a higher end health club with a pool that was inspired by the Natatorium. Does not have to be an exact replica or 4 stories (jeesh) just something permanent. The modern twist being a health club/beach club and not just a giant indoor pool. It was just an idea. There have been a lot of tries on the BW the last few years. Deep then the Cabana Club. The Tiki Bar then the Beach Bar, to inside at Shiver - which is never open...To an art gallery, and a glass shop... To a crappy mini-golf course... All cool ideas, but all very temporary. Let's try this and then that. Lets slap a new coat of paint and repurpose... Would be nice to yes work on restoring the assets and then add more permanent fixtures, buildings, amusements to the BW, inspired by what AP was... Oh and to that comment about the Stone Pony, if anything, that building should be restored or expanded, not torn down! So, here's hoping that the assets will be preserved, that MM does not just slap a new coat of paint and open up a bunch of restaurants only to pull out in the Fall, and that no one drowns in the 18 inch beach club pool! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, charlie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I don't know if i like the idea of recreaeting the building from the past known as the Natatorium. Becasue the Casino withstood the test of time, it should re made as close as allowed. > Something that's been gone for years shouldn't be recreated. You could make the new buildings evolk features from previous buildings. But i don't know if copieing something that's been gone for so long is realistic or a good idea. But again, the idea of the Natatorium should be done again. Will it? Unless things are changed drastically, i doubt it. I think the 18 inch wading pool will be built on that site!
