I've always had a "fear" of unknown animals. When O was growing up, everyone on my block had a dog or a cat! Pets weren't regulated like they are now, or trained to be "people" friendly. I've seen many a "mad" dog on the streets of New Orleans, back in the 50's and it wasn't pretty. No, I respect people who have pets and actually LOVE them, but it makes me sad, because I can't have one and jealous, too!
My daughter had 2 gray cats and a very tiny dog, named Louie, who I love! I could have the finest clothes I own on and I'll let Louie jump all over me! I've know Louie, since he was brought home as a pup, no bigger than my hand and my hands are small! I can't stand to be around an animal that has been tortured, because I think of wanting to torture the owner! I cry at the drop of a hat, so I'd rather give money for food and care. I'm that kind of person. I've cared for 5 children most of my adult life, so trust me, I've had my puppies! No, my litter! I've been a coach for 12 years back in the late 70's and all of the 80's and kids have been my forte. Some people are good with animals but I was good with kids. Not one or two but all of the kids who I coached or hung around my house are professionals or good tradesmen, clerical workers, etc. I believe that children should have a happy childhood, surrounded by good food, clean clothes and a warm place to sleep. With 5 kids, I could offer good food, overnight lodging, (there was always room for 1 more), thoughtful counseling instead of preaching and lots of hugs. You'd be surprised what kids tell you, when they know you genuinely care! Oh well, some people are good animal handlers; I'm not! I'd get too involved. I don't know how to let go, but thanks! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "Gabrielle Obre" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I would argue that a big part of the reason we are in this mess is > that citizens don't talk about politics enough.
