Oh Dan, ye of no context, let me enlighten you.

You don't have the whole discussion with Rush quoted. You know why?
You can't find the video anywhere on the net. All of the links are
dead, in the name of squashing truth.

I'll do this from memory.

At the time, McNabb was the highest paid player in NFL history. His
quarterback ranking was one of the lowest in the league.

Despite the meager performance, the media was still hyping him and he
seemed to be on every commercial in America.

Another analyst brought up the subject (I think it was Steve Young?)
and wondered why the Eagles don't use the back-up QB(I think it was
Detmer at the time. If they had to go to him, that shows you how bad
McNabb was doing).

The other commentator wondered why. Rush answered.

Rush talked about the desire to see a league dominant Black QB. There
had been others, but none league dominant. Read what little you have
of the quote above in that context. He was speaking of why the media
kept hyping McNabb; that's all.

He wasn't saying McNabb was a bad QB because he was black (the common
misconception). He simply explained why the media would hype a guy
with such a low QB rating - because they were rooting for the Black QB
to succeed.

If you have a better explanation to Young's question of why the hype
over such a bad passer, offer it.

DON'T STOP READING YET!!! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!

Here's why I wanted to find the full video.

Rush said this of the media wanting to push McNabb because he is black:

(OK - get ready - here comes the quote, and I guarAntee you've never
heard this part of it before - Ok here it is):

"IT'S A GOOD THING."

That's right. Rush said the media desire to see a league dominant
Black QB was a good thing. A GOOD THING.

Fight fair. Admit it - the media has never played you that part of
the clip, ever.

Why did Rush say it was good?

FOR THE SAME REASON YOU LIKE THAT QUOTE ABOUT THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.

Rush thought it would be good for America. It was a nod to the idea
that Black men were traditionally kept out of the QB spot because of
racism, and the first league dominant Black QB would be an important
step in putting that in the past.

Whoever has a problem with that, raise your hand.

If you are looking for further proof that Rush felt that way, I'll
offer it to you.

There's another video you will have trouble finding on the net:

The week BEFORE the above Rush gave his weekly commentary on ESPN.
What was his topic? The lack of Black front office people and coaches
in the NFL. He took them to task for that vestige of racism.

Go find either video and get back to me. Tell me if you can still
think Rush was wrong after watching them both.
