Who cares if people bitch about checking for bike registrations? When I was a kid growing up in Eatontown, bike registrations were required, and I paid for my own at the age of 8 with money I saved taking out a neighbors garbage.
I paid to get a dog license. It was a mere $7. You could do bike registrations for $2. If all the bad guys riding around this city on stolen bikes had to prove their ownership then they'd probably think twice about stealing them in the first place. I think the general AP public has no idea about what a huge market AP has in stolen bikes, and this is being done by both kids and adults. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "oakdorf" <oakdorf@...> wrote: > > with paid bike registrations, the kids don't have money to pay and the > parents won't pay. > > People will bitch that it's another excuse to stop innocent people for > questioning. > > Really the city should raise the Certificate of Occupancy fee, which is > really required upon a change in tenancy. > > In OT now it's $110 (I think). > > Also raise the fee for title transfer upon sale of a home/condo. > > Take a drive around certain parts of town and fine the property owners for > obvious code violations.
