Did anybody hear what sounded like automatic gunfire last night around 11 pm,
followed by lot's of sirens?

ASBURY PARK — Police continue to investigate an altercation that left two
people shot in the 100 block of Borden Avenue at 11:13 p.m. Friday, said Mark
LeMieux of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

The victims were both males, one an 18-year-old Asbury Park man and the second
a 23-year-old Neptune man. The victims are being treated at a regional trauma
center, however, LeMieux declined to name the medical facility.

The Neptune man was shot in his lower body while the Asbury Park man was shot
in the upper body. Both men have non-life-threatening injuries, LeMieux said. A
gun was recovered at the scene. Law enforcement officers are piecing together
what led up to the shooting, he said.

Asbury Park Police Detective April Byrd and Monmouth County Prosecutors Office
Investigator Jeffrey Wilbert are leading the investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact either officer, LeMieux said.
Wilbert can be reached at 800-533-7443, and Byrd can be reached at 732-774-1300.
