I assume you have it on x86 .. I'm using it on embedded systems.. routerstation and mikrotik with openwrt... it's nice and stable.. I get instant reboot after 10 days, sometimes 20.. but currently cannot relate it to madwifi as I have no logging on it so I don't really know. I wanted to switch to ath5k, but 40mhz channels are a must have. I think I'll go on madwifi as long as it goes and then start switching to ath9k with new cards :/
On x86 I had frequent lockups and I wrote scripts to reboot on problems you're describing and lost a lost of hair on it.
