My understanding, based on a very flimsy understanding is that the
offsets do not affect the sound quality. At least that's why I have not
bothered to get the
correct offsets for my drive, which works fine otherwise. I think the
lack of offsets causes a few problems, that I pretty much don't care
about: 1) It can cause problems burning CDRs in EAC (I use CDRWin), 2)
The intertrack timings can get messed up, and 3) you cant determine if
it is bit-perfect in the samples. I'd love to know if my assumptions
are correct.
