No external DAC. I was just using the DAC in the CD player. Now the entire system consists of the squeezebox, a home made amp (about 30W /channel), the C-9 which is used occasionally, and the ESL-63s. I am using self-made braided interconnect cables, and twisted pair ribbon cable for the speaker connections. I can't hear any differences between mine and the cheap interconnect cables that typically come with audio equipment, but I went to the trouble of making them, so I use them. I also can't hear any differences between my speaker cables and cheap, hardware store zip cord, but I went to the trouble of making these, too, so I use them.
