Why not just rip to 24/96, or 24/88.1, and be done? Take care to get a very good phono preamp (Naim, or AR, for example). Then, if you can, borrow a great turntable (LP12 with a decnet arm and cartridge) for the week. And don't skimp on the DAC. Having a good source chain will make more difference than choosing between Red Book or higher sampling rate.
