Hi Sean, I just picked up a HP 3585a spectrum analyzer off ebay so I'm going to be doing a little experimentation with that first. It won't give 'ps' numbers but it does give hi res pictures of the sidebands which in many ways are even more interesting than just ps numbers.
I've got some boards on order for making a LVDS interface between the SB and the DAC (getting the board small enough to fit in the SB enclosure was not easy, its tight in there!), that should lower the jitter even more.
