People buy Subarus in the UK because they go like a cat with a
firecracker inserted where the sun don't shine :-) They are regarded as
"naff" by a lot of people, me included, because of the "boy racer"
looks. You might admire the engineering, but you wouldn't want to be
seen in one... 

(the exception to this is the Subaru that UK farmers buy because it
lasts forever and can take three sheep in the back seat.)

I actually like the SB3 a lot as a design, it's clean and simple. The
Transporter design is just too "busy" for me, but to each his own.
