Thanks for the info. I'm definitely not an expert in this area, so I'll take your word here. I always had this impression that getting DC power from a battery was pretty much pure power out-the-tap, as opposed to DC power created from AC which must go through some hoops to get there. I wasn't aware of things like chemical noise and sinusoidal waves getting in the way.
