Eric,

The Lavry is built for Professional balanced operation. The volume
control is used to control output levels, and if used, the headphone
level:

Quoting Lavry manual:

AES/EBU professional levels

Volume set to 56 in balanced = 34.72V peak to peak (12.28 V rms)
Volume set to 56 in unbalanced = 17.36 V peak to peak (6.14 V rms)

Volume set to 40 in balanced = 5.6V peak to peak (2 V rms)
Volume set to 46 in unbalanced = 5.6 V peak to peak (2 V rms)

These numbers are equivalent to typical CD player outputs (although are
high compared to many other hifi sources.

The range is 1dB per step on the control. Every 6dB halves the
voltage. The final step 01 to 00 is infinite.

For eample range on headphone output is -35dBu to + 20dBu. This is
very nice as a precision attenuator.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave
