I like opera when I cook (especially when it's pasta, for some
reason...), and my kitchen is small enough to keep other people out :)

I use a pair of Harbeth HL-P3ES speakers, effectively updated BBC
LS3/5As, which are truly wonderful.  I got them for £300 on ebay -
under a third the new price.  They work really well with classical and
opera, if that's your thing.

A pair of old Celestion SL600s might be nice too, as you won't need
high sound levels normally.

I imagine that these are rather marginal choices, but the main thing to
remember is that BOSE stands for 'Buy Other Sound Equipment' ;)
