Don't most active speakers have built in attenuators? In that case, its just a question setting the speaker to its quietest setting, do the same with the transporter, then gradually turn up the volume on the transporter. If you reach max on the transporter without going as loud as you'd like, gradually adjust the attenuation on the speakers until you get to that point.
