The stock switcher has been shown to emit a lot of noise which might affect some systems but not others. This may be why some hear an improvement with a different psu and others don't.
You might try plugging the wallwart into a power conditioner first to see if that helps. If you can audition a linear or buy a cheap one it can be fun to compare. I auditioned the 750.00 Bolder psu and their full modded SB. Not worth the money IMO. A stock, cheap (17.00) psu sounded just as good as the 750.00 bolder.
