Yamaha is the world's #1 receiver manufacturer in terms of volume, so they do know what they're doing. Their receivers are usually well-regarded and aren't the Sony (non-ES), Panasonic (non-XR) and JVC crap. Personally their sickly yellow VFDs make me ill, but that's just cosmetics. ;-) However the Panny has some interesting and different technology. Many describe it as an all-digital amp but apparently that's not quite accurate.
