Ok, let me start over.

I think it is going to work:)

There is a new version of sox, version 13.0.0. The Windows version can
be downloaded from SourceForge at:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10706&package_id=10619&release_id=485785

I dropped the executable sox.exe into Slimserver's
MSWin32-x86-multi-thread folder, after backing up the old version.

This is a vast improvement over the earlier version, and it will handle
a 24 bit stream.

Given that, the following rule change in convert.conf should work,
although I need to do more testing to be sure:

flc wav * *
        [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ | [sox] -t wav - -t
wav - filter 0-24000

This will create a low-pass filter with a fairly sharp knee at 24KHz.

The next trick is to be able to differentiate between a Transporter and
an SB3 based on MAC filtering.
