I've seen several discussions of the WAV vs. Flac issue on other boards, with a number of people saying they hear a difference. If you frequent any other audiophile forums, those claims in and of themselves should come as no surprise.
I think many are a result of a simple inability by some people to fathom that there could such a thing as mathematically lossless compression. They cannot be convinced otherwise, and will argue that any processing degrades the signal, or very similar nonsense.
