The "changes" you are hearing are just as likely to be the result of your state of mind as any mods.
Because you expect a difference you may be listening differently, with more attention and therefore you will hear more detail. This detail was likely present before the mods but you weren't listening for it. A music appreciation class would yield the same results for less money and would be longer lasting :-) Eg. if you know what to listen for in a Bach fugue you will hear more of the counterpoint than if you didn't study the music beforehand. I am not saying that is impossible that the mods don't make a difference but it is unlikely.
