Robin - I agree, but when was the last time you (we) heard a truly poor digital source. For me it was probably pre-1990. To be clear, I think the SB is a good digital source and can go head-to-head with v expensive competitors. However, we haven't quite got our head round the big paradigm shift here - namely, that we expect high fidelity to require serious (ie visually expensive) engineering, and yet we should really know by now that digital technology isn't like that. You could build a Ferrari-like computer, but it won't crunch those numbers with any more style or elan than my HP laptop... I'm not sure this perception will completely change for at least 3 more generations. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann JISCO/UPCI - TACT RCS 2.2X with Good Vibrations S/W - MF X-DAC V3/X-PSU/X-10 buffer (Audiocomm full mods)- Linn 5103 - Linn Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38815 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
