Eric, as you can see above, I also had problems and went back to Slimserver and an earlier firmware. However after reading this thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42970 about problems similar to yours I tried again, first updating firmware, the rewriting Xilink and the resetting factory settings, and now FW40 works for me as well.
So last night I enjoyed listening to 88.2 recordings from Linn. Great work, Sean, but perhaps something in FW40 is wrong as to "finishing up" the installation proces?
