Well, for me, the repeatable procedure is: update to fw40, listen the the knob degauss. But that's not very helpful to you, is it?
I don't know if it's possible to put some debugging statements into a version of the firmware that would output diagnostic data on the external rs232, but I'd be happy to collect that, if it was, and if that would be helpful. BTW: I almost never actually use the knob on my transporter.
