... and it got dup'd and bug 571 updated to encompass Apple Lossless, which is fine. I also noticed another relevant bug, 3345 "support alac in hardware" (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3345). Note that you can vote for bugs if you make yourself a bugreporter account.
