Try scoping the analogue outs of the squeezebox/TP playing that same square wave. If it looks better, your DAC is broken. If it looks the same, your scope is broken. -Something- is adding very large amounts of harmonic distortion to that signal. I don't have a scope, but I tried recording a 1KHz squarewave coming out of the SB3 using my laptop's soundcard.
