So, how big is your music library? How many GB?
If it's below 300GB, I like this one a lot:

http://www.logicsupply.com/products/systemgs_l08

This is as low power as you can go without loosing required
performance, although SC's web interface is sluggish when you use it on
the system itself (better use another computer for that or
SBC/iPod/iPhone). I use SC web interface on the system itself after I
found that Google Chrome is much faster. People complain about this
performance with way faster CPU's too...
It's main advantages:

- very small, like 4" x 2" x 6" and that includes the hard-disk up to
320 G
- fanless -> silent
- all you need is in there, like ethernet etc. but not the optical
drive for ripping because it doesn't fit. I use an external Sony
DRU-840 with dBPowerAmp or EAC with perfect results. But you can also
RIP on another computer and just copy it on there.
- I use XP because of some app's that require it but you can use Linux
Ubuntu too.

If you don't care about the physical size, look at some sligtly bigger
systems like the Nano-ITX or Mini-ITX that can have an internal optical
drive.

I make backups to an external USB HD using Acronis True-Image.

cheers,
Nick.
