I find downmixes to 2 channel from anything sound just ok. The 2
Channel CD's usually sound better. I think almost all my DVD-A are
multi-channel only and I already have the DTS rips so I think I'm
done.

The DTS track on DSOTM is almost indistinguishable from the MLP as were
many DVDA's I had. I ripped them and put them on Transporter and sold
the DVDA player with no regrets.

I wish I could do the same with SACD MultiChannel mixes.

But it's nice to get the 24/88.2 2 Channel mix as a compromise.
