I had a similar problem with my Maui-modded Transporter (you may want to check my posts here and in many other Audio forums like HydrogenAudio, MartinLoganOwners, etc). I tried almost everything: changing/upgrading cables (audio and power), moving traps, diffusers, speakers, moving from RCA to balanced, upsampling, disabling modules inside the Transporter, putting heavy weights on the equipment, you name it. I managed to get better sound, but the sibilants and hardness were still there.
Also, I though it was the OpAmps (637) being unstable in the buffer stage but I did not have an oscilloscope to prove that. What did solve the problem was upgrading my Finite-Elemente Spider rack to errrmmm... kheh-kheh... Finite-Elemente Master Reference one. The sibilance gone since then.
