A way forward is to get an dedicated HT processor. For example I use an MeridianG68J this is both a dac HT processor and preamp in one box. If Meridian pricing would send you running for your defibrillator. They older models can be had used for not so insane money (beware of ebay scammers that stalks every high end brand).
To save money I did not use the now so popular 5 or 7 ch power amps, I reused my existing power amp and bought two more used ones.
