Totally agreed about analogue tape (it was good but not that good, even with manufacturer-alignment and the best Ampex money could buy...!) and I've seen ADAT tapes in some very high end studios... often they would be used as a convenient way of recording a vocal or guitar part in (say) the UK for an album being mixed in the US... just courier the ADAT and you can sync/dub it in at the other end in a way that was near-impossible with analogue tape and SMPTE sync... This happened a lot more than most people would think and it was before the high-speed Internet we have today, where you could just send the bits down a wire... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann JISCO/UPCI - TACT 2.2X (Linear PSU) + Good Vibrations S/W - MF Triplethreat(Audiocom full mods)- Linn 5103 - Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables Outdoors: Boombox+Creative Sub (If I remember to turn it on...) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57631 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
