You could short the 100R output resistors to get more power. I'm not
sure how much the op-amps can cleanly drive - I only ever tested them
with loads as low as 600R. My guess is that headphones driven directly
should sound great, at low power levels.

Rocket - it would definitely be considered an "active" output, although
I wouldn't call it a preamp. A "passive" preamp would be a simply a
potentiometer and some mechanical switches (or perhaps relays) to
choose an input.
