This will vary with the associated equipment, some xlr implementations
could be quite shoddy , so one have to try both with what you have at
hand.

Best case scenario is as described by Anne assuming short cable and TP
rca/xlr outputs are equally good and the recieving amp has equally good
inputs.

I have also experienced that "xlr is better" but with some power amps,
I've had the opposite result ?
