One thing I'd try before changing the pre is disabling volume control on the Transporter.
All tests I've made so far with my TP on various preamps (from 300 to 2500, transistors or tubes) showed that there was a huge quality loss when the volume control wasn't disabled, even if the volume was set at 100%. Although some people in these forums are skeptical about this, everybody I demoed the TP with or without volume control witnessed the fact it sounds pretty poor / flat when the volume control is left on. FWIW, in my experience, the TP didn't need any burn-in, and sounded right out of the box like it does now, thousands of playing hours later. -- sebp System : Mac Mini for ripping to FLAC (XLD) > SqueezeCenter 7.3 running on a ReadyNAS NV+ Living room : Transporter > NuForce IA-7 v2 > KEF iQ9 Bedroom : Squeezebox 3 > Beresford DAC > NAD C315BEE > KEF iQ3 Kitchen : SB Receiver > Trends Audio TA10.1 > Celestion F10 Bathroom : SB Boom 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/sebp) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sebp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11768 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66347
