I bought the v-dac before I got my transporter. I was thinking of going the PC as server through USB to DAC.
I sent the v-dac back after a few days of burn in. I couldn't stand it! Both through my PC USB and SPDIF through my Rega Apollo. I found the sound to be 2D. Thin and lacking in color. The transporter was much more interesting out of the box. It was almost like the difference between AM and FM. If the rest of your system tends to be a little "loosey goosey" then the v-dac could firm things up a bit. The transporter is tight and deep!
