The A3 is a fine CD player. I'd go for a Classic and when/if you decide you are comfortable with the whole compter audio setup, add a DAC (which will easily surpass the A3, such as the Benchmark or MF X-DACV8). Or - for 24/96 experiments you could sell the Classic for a good price and get a Touch and use that with your DAC.
