I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I *think* you're saying
that it's difficult to know how significant the auditory limitations may
be. And in that respect I agree - the only way to tell is to do a
listening test.

But the most important thing this video demonstrates is that a
listening test is not valid if it includes other external information
(such as visual clues). Poppy Crum's party trick with the backwards
Stairway to Heaven shows this emphatically.

What this means is that sighted listening tests are - to put it bluntly
- worthless. As JJ explained, knowing about the dangers of external
clues doesn't mean you can "dial them out". You can't consciously adjust
the way your perception system works. Any "audiophile" who claims to be
immune to non-auditory influences when doing a sighted listening test is
quite simply denying their own humanity.
