Is not the old DAC a more likely culprit, it is old things drift when aging ? Maybe Thetas service dept has something to say ?
Btw is your transporter brand new or used ? no mods done to it ? Open box what is that ? There are some "clever" mods around (probably most of them) that cripples the squeezebox products and offer very unlikely improvements in the process. Some disable the crystals needed for 48k 96k and 196k leaving only the 44.1 88.2 and 172.4k crystal.
