What confuses people is that in many cases the only way to get buy great sounding recordings is in SACD/DVD-A/Blu-ray/hi-res download format. But it is NOT the format that makes them sound great and great sounding recordings are available in standard redbook form - but you will not find any record company rushing to remaster it's back catalogue properly in redbook.
