Interesting find indeed. I too have no clue about Logitech's long term plans for Transporters but I'm afraid it doesn't sound like long term plans to me - sounds like they've ran out of knobs but realised they have enough bits (including VFDs I guess) for a 'Second Edition'(?) version.
