Networks compnonets such as computers, switches, routers, etc. in an Ethernet are galvanic insulated through the transformer in the Ethernet adapter, this is one of the reasons why Ethernet is so roubust. Despite that, communication problems that leads to packet losses up at the TCP leveldo occur but TCP will resend packets that are not acknowledged by the receiver.
So as long as the cables and network components involved, incldung ethernet adapaters in both SB Server and SB Player, are so flawed that there are so many packets lost that it causes the buffers in the SB to become empty, there should be no audible difference at all with different network cables, routers, switches, etc. If anything, unshielded cable could introduce problems, if they are close to strong magnetic fields. If you have such problems in your listening environment, I suspect the ethernet cables is probaly your smallest problem. -- johann ------------------------------------------------------------------------ johann's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10177 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84742 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
