Using a proper server will not change the sound but will improve everything else about the whole experience (stability, performance etc).
As for HDTracks... it's not about the "numbers"(24/96, 24/192) it's about the sound of the masters. Sometimes these are worth getting, but personally I would NEVER pay the extra premium for 24/192 if 24/96 or 24/48 versions were available. There is no evidence that anyone can hear the difference between any 24/192 or 24/96 track and that same track properly downsampled to redbook... Room treatments... do NOT do anything yet. Wait until the room is finished and fully populated with furniture and speakers are in their final locations.
