So when Sir Isaac Newton formulated his law of universal gravitation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_law_of_universal_gravitation) he was proving other scientists wrong? So other scientist were all along claiming that when an apple dislodges from the tree it does not fall downwards, it goes sideways? Or upwards? And then Newton proved them wrong?
