I hear you and understand. I'd say if you can't get some sound tonight or in the morning that given your tight schedule you return it. It is under warranty with logitech, but the amazon 30 days is pure and simple. The warranty is good, but may be more hassle for you.
Don't know what you are really trying to achieve in terms of total system, but I can tell you that as much as I love my Transporter, I wouldn't have bought it IF the TOUCH had already been released. You could buy the SB Touch, and if you wanted even couple it with a good DAC and have a VERY, VERY nice system. I use a Touch, coupled with a Benchmark DAC I at my weekend place. Something to consider anyhow. But, again, I'd keep trying on your Transporter for as much time as you have left to think about it. I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking.
